The Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital

 

You will also find in the heart of Paris’ 13th arrondissement the first French hospital group. Born on the ashes of the small arsenal previously named the “Salpêtrière” which were produced the ammunition powders, the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital was built in the XVIIth century instructed by Louis XIV. Both a proximity and a specialized hospital, today the hospital is one of the biggest of the public Assistance – Paris Hospitals (AP-HP), whose services and specialities references are recognized nationally and internationally.

Since its creation in 1780, the École nationale supérieure d’arts et métier aims to train general engineers and industry executives to the disciplines of mechanical, energy and industry engineering. This is an historically renowned public school delivering a general engineering degree. ENSAM represents 15 research laboratories and a doctoral school developing teaching and research activities focus on three main areas that are the “mechanics, materials, processes,” the “Fluids and energy systems” and “Designing, industrialization, risk decision.”

The Gare du Nord station has an international focus and is a major crossroads between the 10th arrondissement of the capital with the northern France and neighboring countries such as Belgium, the Netherlands, Great Britain and Germany. It is the leader of the parisian rail network and has up to thirty channels making this station, the largest in Europe in terms of traffic. The Gare du Nord station is now the subject of a registration as an historic monument since the 15 January 1975.
